English Festival

Overview:The Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE) has organized English Festivals for students, grades 4-12, in an effort to promote quality reading among our students. The goal of the festival is to communicate to students the value of literature in the enrichment of their lives. In order to attain that objective, students are required to read books from a predetermined list.

Activities: (students will work in small groups)Insights-- Teams will discuss ideas and issues from the readings. Each team will be assigned a topic to present on, and this presentation will be judged and the winning teams will be awarded points.Trivia-- Teams will be asked very specific questions about the readings.Talk Show-- Teams will present a short segment of a talk show using the characters from the various booksSuper Trivia/Answers--Teams will be challenged to answer 40 trivia questions in writing in 15 minutes
