I learned a lot about their culture and living in Afghanistan since I read Under the Persimmons Tree. The author included a lot of words in their languages, and traditions. I learned what the everyday life of an Afghan would be. My opinion on Afghan people has changes because since 9/11, there had been a stereotype on Afghans and their are perceived as terrorists who are going to bomb the U.S. However, they are really just third-world country people trying to get enough food and make enough money to live.

Captain Shek could send those who are not legal to climb the mountain to jail.

Battle school is a military school that is located in space. Only highly intelligent students go there, and Lanchies are kids who are on their first year in the Battle School.

Yes, I did like the ending. I found it very hopeful, being they all travel to America for a better life and such.

I have learned that living in Afganistan could be rather dangerous. During the time period this took place, especially with the taliban snatching up your stuff. My opinion of the Afghan people has changed since reading this. I realize a majority of the people living there are innocent, though we judge them by the radical terrorists.

Peak-Question 2
Peak was arrested from attop the sky scraper he last climbed. From there he was sent to a prison sort of thing. Finally he goes to court where he is simpily put into the custody of his father.

Josh is not a very good father figure for Peak, for he has never been there for Peak. The reason he brought Peak to Everest was as a publicity stunt since Peak would be the youngest person to climb Everest.

I learned life in Afghanistan can be very difficult. With he conflict going on involving the Taliban, they can easily lose their family or be abducted in the blink of an eye. I have a deeper respect of Afghan people than I did before. They're very hardy people to not lose hope in these dark times, and are very faithful.
